My friend, I will always remember your great smile and the fun we had. And, how you always spoke with kind words and found good in everything. You were taken from this earth way too soon. Love, Mary Jo
This first picture is of Kathy Delahunt (Copps) and Sari after "Tower Club" initiation.
The second picture of Sari is with Pat Dalhasen, our good friend and HF classmate. Pat went to Marquette HS and passed away his freshman year of Leukemia.
Sari was a wonderful friend who left this world much too soon. Her wide grin and infectious laughter belied the struggles she had with diabetes. We had many good times together-cruising through the Milky Way parking lot to see who was there, seeing how fast her new car would go (on the freeway, in the fog, dumb….), beach time on Lake Michigan (brrr!) and just hanging out. I think of her often and wish she could have enjoyed an easier and longer life with us. I think she would have been the life of the reunion party.
When I think of Sari I think of getting into mischief and giggling!!!! She and I spent many a summer day (in grade school) playing tricks on my younger siblings, dressing up in silly costumes, sneaking into her kitchen for a sugary snack (highly verboten because she was a diabetic.....one day we decided to burn the candy wrapper evidence in her metal bedroom wastebasket which became so hot that we couldn't touch it to hide it from her mother who came rushing in to investigate the smell of fire), playing endless games of Canasta, and just having FUN together.
Sari was a bright star that was snuffed out way too soon.
Sari was the first person I ever met who had Diabetes. One of my weeks at Camp Talaki was also the Diabetic camp. I remember being so interested in the fact that these girls couldn't eat candy or chew regular gum. It is so sad to think that she succumbed to the complications of diabetes when there are now so many more treatment options. What a wonderful gal. She is truly missed.
Many of my fondest memories from high school involve "bombing around the Bay" with Sari in her beautiful blue TBird! She was a good friend! Her happy demeanor and infectious giggle undoubtedly disguised much suffering. Many thanks to Sari for her friendship and example in adversity. She is greatly missed!

So remembering that gentle sweet smile that was such an always present feature of Sari's! I had several
classes with Sari (and I think she was in Mr. Beal's choir with me too), and my images of her smiles,
cheerfulness, and sweet high voice will always remain with me!

Sari was made entirely of light.
